Morgan Extract Solution / Lamotte - Universal Extracting Solution (UES)

The soil extract of choice for a lot of soil laboratories and universities. The Morgan Universal test solution is a chemical extract that was patterned after the exudates that roots give off. It is called the Morgan Extract. The Morgan extract is a "universal" extractant, meaning all major nutrients (including phosphorus) and many micronutrients can all be measured in the one extract.

The morgan extract measures what nutrients is available to the plant. For example there may be plenty of calcium in the actual soil, but a plant may show a calcium deficiency because it remains totally insoluble. The morgan extract only measures what is available to the plant at that time.

It was the soil extract of choice for the late Dr Carey Reams whose audio seminars we sell. He used this soil extract when determining his range of ideal nutrient levels in the soil because he was interested in what nutrients were biologically active. He also used it in his urea test because of the "extraction efficiencies" it has for various elements.
